Background

In February 1993 Mike Baird founded Sylvan Technology; a consulting services business focusing on top-down HDL methodology. The company was incorporated in May 1994 when Sylvan Technology Inc. expanded their services to include training, custom tool environments, development of custom models and HDL validation code.

In September 1996, the company changed its name to Willamette HDL, Inc. (WHDL). The new name reinforces the company's focus on language-based design methodologies, training, and validation.
